By order of the Council of appointment By the Act of the Legislature Entitled An Act to Provide for the
Temporal Government of the Southern Parts of this State When Ever the Enemy Shall abandon or Be
Dispossesed of the Same And Until the Leagislature Can Be Convened.
Passed October 23 1779
And By Virtue of Directions Jesse Hunt Ye Sherriff of Westchester County appointing Jonathan G
Tompkins Thomas Cornell Stephen Cornell to Superintend the town meeting at the manor of Scarsdale
on the 22 of December 1783 then and there to Choose town officers until the next annual meting the
town met on the said day att the House of Jonathan Griffens near the usual place of holding said
meetings then and their the inhabitants proceed to choose town officers by a majority of votes
