Browse the The Springsteen Collection - The Orangetown Museum’s Springsteen Collection is a collection of black and white photographs taken by George W. Springsteen in and around the Town of Orangetown c.1910 – 1920. The photos, many of which were sold as postcards, provide a lively and varied glimpse of life in a small town at the beginning of the 20th century. They contain an interesting mixture of both the urban and the rural elements present in communities surrounding New York City at that time. The photos were a gift to the museum from Springsteen’s grandsons, Robert & Kenneth.

Springsteen was an avid photographer and he sold photographic supplies from his home on Main Street. We also know that he paid great attention to detail as the majority of his photographs are dated and the subjects are identified.
