Package received to-day- "slow freight" from London, 40 miles, eight days New York to London, five London to Oxford. Everything all right- thank you very much.
No news busy trying to finish my work and get to Paris.
Oxford depressing mentally and physically. Rain and fog for a week, bacon for two months, glad to get to a civilized country, i.e., France. Fog and bacon obscure light of Stubbs, Rashdall, York-Powell, Medley, et id omne genus. Oxford otherwise most attractive, - much fine music, heard Julius Caesar, good sermons, e.g., Jessop (Coming of the Friars), delightful people, book-stores a never failing delight- but covet everything for V.C.
