Notes	Henry Montgomery attended Pawling School (now called Trinity-Pawling School), a private all male boarding school, for two years from 1919 through 1921. In 1924 Henry changed his given name to Robert and went on to become one of Pawling School's most famous alumni. His career was honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; the first was awarded for his accomplishments in motion pictures, the second for his work in television. Although he did not graduate from Pawling School and subsequently moved to Hollywood, he later returned to the area and purchased a home in nearby Patterson, New York.

He entered the school in September of 1919 and withdrew in June of 1921. Tragedy struck a year later when his father died, leaving the family destitute. Robert became self- sufficient through employment in various jobs requiring manual labor before setting off to New York City to seek his fortune on Broadway. There, he landed acting jobs which brought him to the attention of the motion picture conglomerate, Metro- Goldwyn- Mayer ( MGM). After signing a contract with MGM, Robert Montgomery moved west to Hollywood and began a long career in show business culminating with two Academy Award nominations for Best Actor, one for “ Night Must Fall” ( 1937), the other for “ Here Comes Mr. Jordan” ( 1941). His career was multi- faceted and included acting, directing and producing as well as serving four terms as President of the Screen Actors Guild. For his accomplishments in motion pictures and television, Robert Montgomery was awarded a star- plaque for each on the most famous sidewalk in the world, Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
