New
Hurley
was
located
on the
corner
of
Dennison
Road
and
Route
208
and was
physically
in the
Town
of
Gardiner
.
Standing
in the
path
of the
tunnel
for the
New
York
Water
Works
in
1908
, the
school
,
which
was
said
to be
over
100
years
old
, was
torn
down
and
students
attended
school
in the
tenant
house
of
Mr
.
Tompkins
until
the
new
school
was
built
in
1909
. The
new
school
house
was
situated
in the
Town
of
Plattekill
,
north
of the
New
Hurley
Reformed
Church
along
Route
208
. This
school
was
closed
in
June
1944
due
to
centralization
with the
Wallkill
School
District
.
Mrs
.
Ruth
Dylewski
was the
last
teacher
at this
school
.
