Description	This page contains a photograph of the interior views of the home of Colonel George A. Cantine located at 522 Grand St., Newburgh, NY. The house was designed by Frank E. Estabrook.
Notes	Cantine served in the Union Army. He and his wife, Marian J. Cook, had two sons, Edward B. and Francis M. In 1886 Cantine came to Newburgh to work as the general agent for the New York Life Insurance Co., in charge of the Hudson River District. His various memberships including the Odd Fellows and the Freemasons and several military societies. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and Past Inspector of the State of New York. According to "Newburgh: Her Institutions, Industries and Leading Citizens" Cantine gained "public favor" for his lectures, "notably at the Memorial Day exercises of 1890." Other lecture topics included "German Civilization in Europe" "Art in History" and "National Civilization of America."
