Description	School receipt from the Poughkeepsie Female Collegiate Institute dated July 15, 1850 for Miss Laura T. Hasbrouck on light blue paper. Handwritten receipt with the school name, half of the date, the receiver and "Miss" printed in several different fonts. Opposite the description is the price.; Laura Tallmadge Hasbrouck, the youngest child of Levi and Hylah Bevier Hasbrouck, was born January 19, 1834. Laura like her sisters was tutored at home and later attended the Poughkeepsie Female Collegiate Institute around 1850 at the age of 16. In 1873, Laura Tallmadge married a widower with three children Abraham Varick of Poughkeepsie, New York. Abraham and Laura Tallmadge lived in Poughkeepsie, New York, at 50 Cannon Street. After Abraham died in 1891, Laura Tallmadge moved in with her nephew Hasbrouck Innis to the Rosewood Estate, which was previously occupied by Laura's sister Ann Bevier and her husband George Innis. Laura Tallmadge later inherited her ancestral home Locust Lawn (The Josiah Hasbrouck House), and held the title until 1925 when she died at the age of 91.
