Description	An African American woman wears a white blouse, probably linen, with machine lace inserts, “pouter pigeon” style in that it hangs forward, above a heavier weight skirt with patch pockets. Even though the skirt seems to be “work dress” the blouse suggests that it was carefully chosen for her portrait, and this is confirmed by the decorative pin at the waist closure.
Notes	This image is from a collection of glass plate negatives which have a tendency to deteriorate over time. Due to age and storage conditions, some images may show signs of deterioration.
