State of New York, Rockland County On the fifteenth day of January 1824 before me came David Pye who being duly sworn and saith that he acted as surveyor when Tunis Smith Andrew Suffern and William Young Commissioners laid out the New Road that in laying out said road they acted honestly and impartially in executing their duty and they nor either of them idd not appear to be influenced by any person but laid out said road and the rout [route] they concived best for the public good to the best of this defendants knowledge and belief. David Pye Sworn & Subscribed before Me John Green Coms. by act of 19 April 1823.
