"SLABSIDES / NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK / BURROUGHS DRIVE / WEST PARK, NEW YORK 12493 / This cabin was built by the poet-naturalist John Burroughs in 1895 and used by him in the last 25 years of his life as a place to study nature at close hand, to write, and to visit with his friends. It is a unique literary shrine, located approx. 1 mile off Route 9W." - letterpress caption from verso of postcard.
Notes	John Burroughs built Slabsides in a small wooded valley near Riverby. It was another of his writing studies where he sought privacy but inevitably hosted guests. He grew celery on this property as a commercial crop. This site is maintained today by the John Burroughs Association.
