June the 5
Well sister, as I
was asleep so nice in my
little tent at 3 o’clock, we
got orders to turn out
double quick with our traps.
All we fell in line stack
arms and got our coffee and
bread. The army is on the
move, where I can’t tell. Our
core is here yet, but all
packed up ready for a start.
They say the rebels has
crossed the river and on
the way to Bull Run,
but we can’t tell nothing
about where we are going.
No doubt you will hear
of it before you get this,
but we expect to have
another fight soon. I hope
that we shall have better
success than we have had
before. I am looking for
a hard time while
it is very hot and dusty.
I think fighting will be over
this summer. How happy
I shall be when that day
comes. If I shall be permitted
to live to see that day, it will
be a happy day for all of us.
As soon as we get settled again
I will let you know how it went.
No more this morning.
