John De Witt, also called Johannas, was born 2/26/1752 in Dutchess County. He lived in Rhinebeck and in Poughkeepsie, served in the Revolutionary War and became the sheriff of Dutchess County. In 1804 he moved to Albany and in 1806 to Newburgh in Orange County. He died 4/12/1808. Rachel (Radcliff) Dewitt (1723-1794), John's mother and Hillitje De Witt, were witnesses to this document.
Ann DeWitt married Captain Philip DuBois Bevier in 1782, the couple had nine children, eight daughters and one son. Captain Bevier died in 1802.
