Description	Bill documenting the sale of an eleven year old female slave named Gin, dated March 16, 1790. She was sold from John De Witt to Ann Bevier for twenty-five pounds.
Notes	John De Witt, also called Johannas, was born 2/26/1752 in Dutchess County. He lived in Rhinebeck and in Poughkeepsie, served in the Revolutionary War and became the sheriff of Dutchess County. In 1804 he moved to Albany and in 1806 to Newburgh in Orange County. He died 4/12/1808. Rachel (Radcliff) Dewitt (1723-1794), John's mother and Hillitje De Witt, were witnesses to this document. Ann DeWitt married Captain Philip DuBois Bevier in 1782, the couple had nine children, eight daughters and one son. Captain Bevier died in 1802.

Transcript	Know all men by these presents that I John De Witt for and in consideration of the sum of Twentyfive Pounds to me in hand paid by Ann Bevier hath Bargained and sold and by these presents doth brgain and sell to the said Ann Bevier a Negroe Girl named Gin about eleven years old to have and to hold to her, her heirs executers administrators and assigns forever. Witness my hand and seal this sixteenth day of March 1790.
