On this day of October 27, 1699
Sara Frere, daughter of the late Hugues Frere, resident of the Paltz, and with the avowal and consent of Hugues Frere, her brother as well as her guardian, promises to commit herself to serve in the capacity of tailor’s apprentice during the span of three years starting next December 1st for David Debonrepos or for Blanche Dubois his daughter-in-law who is a mistress-seamstress, and to obey them in everything which will pertain to fabrics; and the said David Debonrepos or Blanche Dubois also promise to commit themselves to nourish her and to support her and to teach her the fear of God, and to provide her with all that will be necessary to her in respect of food and clothing during the span of the three years, and, most of all, to teach her the trade of seamstress, and at the end of three years to give her a number of rags and clothes, either habits or shirts, that she will bring with her as she will join the household of the said David Debonrepos or Blanche Dubois, and to teach her to read and to write as much as it will be possible for them, in faith of which they have signed the preceding in the presence of witnesses.
