Description	Portrait painting of a young woman, Gertrude Bogardus Deyo, dressed in a black off the shoulder dress with a matching brooch and earrings. Her hair is parted down the middle with curls on either side and down her back. Oil painting on canvas, with a gold gilt gesso wood frame and decorative corner relief. Peg Board backing.
Notes	Gertrude Bogardus Deyo was born January 25, 1817 to Abraham A. Deyo and Margaret T. Deyo. She married Thomas K. Jessup on October 17, 1843 in New Hurley. Thomas was born in Florida, New York on January 23, 1810 to Rebecca Armstrong and Samuel Jessup. The couple had one daughter Gertrude Deyo Jessup, born August 3, 1844. Shortly after giving birth and a few months after this portrait was painted, Gertrude died. Gertrude died August 20, 1844, most likely from complications with childbirth. Her daughter Gertrude lived only five short years, she died March 10, 1850. Her father Thomas went on to remarry Leah Catharine Deyo. Thomas died August 26, 1891.
