Description	This early 20th century photograph shows Christopher Freer seated at a two harness loom weaving rag carpeting. This photograph was taken in the Bevier-Elting House, a historic museum house, located on Huguenot Street, New Paltz, NY. Wooden beams are visible at the top of the photograph, with a double hung window along the left hand side. Three posters can be seen hanging on the side and back wall advertising "Adrience Farm Machinery". In the back left hand corner of the room a black hat is visible on top of several unknown objects.
Notes	In 1900, Christopher Freer was living in the Elting house on Huguenot Street (today the Bevier-Elting House) where this photograph was taken. Freer is listed in the Federal Census for 1870 as a blacksmith, in 1880 as a farm laborer, and in 1910 as a carpet weaver. The circumstances surrounding his training or his output as a weaver are unknown but most probably he like many other weavers worked at a variety of occupations in order to make a living.
