The party given by Mrs. Mary Woodhull and son in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brewster, Thursday night, the 23nd was a very pleasant affair. The bride was formerly Miss Lizzie Hathaway, daughter of Rev. Warren S. Hathaway and the groom the son of Mr. Henry S. Brewster. About a hundred guests were present. The house was handsomely illuminated withouy, while within was a brilliant scene. Many of the gentlemen were in full evening dress and the ladies toilettes were both becoihfug and suitable for the occasion. We have room to mention but a few.
The bride was attired in chromo brocade and faille made en train with V shaped bodice trimmed with duchess point. The skirt was draped with tulle caught up with white and purple lilacs; Miss Mable Moffat wore white India silk tastefully trimmed with ribbon and lace; Mrs. Tallman, of New Bedford, Mass., pale blue brocade silk and tulle with oriental trimmings and diamond ornaments; Mrs. Chadwick, a black and white combination exquisitely trimmed with lace and ribbon; Mrs. Thomas Brewster, ~~~ brocade en train; Mrs. Jos. Howell, ~~~ silk and jet; Mrs. Fred Breithaupt, ~~~ urah and lace; Miss Jennie Strong, ~~~rah and figured tulle; Miss May ~~~ white moire prettily trimmed ~~~ lace, riddon and smilax; Miss Susan ~~~ , Black velvet and satin and shite roses; Miss Annie Miller, of Coxsackie, balck and blue brocade; Miss Pease, of Lockport, N. Y., navy blue satin; Miss Carrie Conklin, gray surah; Miss Gussie Woodhull, brown silk and moire; Miss Ada Marvin, of Middletown, black silk trimed with white surah; Miss Caldwell of New Windsor, mahogany faillewith gimp trimmings; Miss Ella Tuthill, black silk and jet; Miss Jennie Woodhull, old rose cashmere with velvet and Persian trimmings; Miss Joana Howell, light silk and ribbon; Miss Hattie Hunter, blue silk and lace; Miss Steedman, blue plush and pink rose.
The sitting room with its laden tables werearranged systematically and commanded a very elegant appearance. Universal sentiment expressed an enjoyable evening.
