United States Tires "History Of The United States" Automobile
Mr. Frank Durland, Chester Board of Trade, Chester, N. Y.
Dear Mr. Durland:
The other day Mr. Harry Murray of Chester, N. Y. called upon Mr. Strawn of the United States Rubber Co. regarding the changing of the history on the United States Tire Historical Bulletin Board from Goshen to Chester.
We shall be very glad, on the next repaint, to tell of Chester instead of Goshen, and send three sample histories for your approval. These histories are as follows:
CHESTER 1/2 miles from here
In the old Yelverton Inn, Chester, (built in 1765) Richard Wisner was chosen a delegate to the Provisional Assembly which protested against the unjust taxation of the American Colonies.
CHESTER 1/2 miles from here
Gen. George Washington, when he made military journeys between Morristown, N. J. and Newburgh, N. Y. during the American Revolution, stopped at the old Yelverton Inn, Chester, which was erected in 1765.
CHESTER 1/2 miles from here
In 1785 Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, who were opposing counsel in determining the boundaries of the original Cheesecook Patent, stopped at the old Yelverton Inn, Chester, built in 1765.
Very truly yours,
The O.J. Gude Co.
