Chester, N. Y., Oct. 1895.
Dear Friend:-
At a meeting of the Session held in the chapel October 1st, 1895, it was resolved that the cause of the Missionaries in the Home and Foreign field be presented to our people, with a short statement in the following form, and a mere announcement of the fact by our pastor.
As a denomination we are behind with the salaries of our Missionaries more than $600,000, and the debt is constantly increasing until One Million Dollars is asked for. The portion assigned us to raise is $387. We have raised $73 of that amount and the Session asks all the members of the church and congregation to join them in contributing the remaining $315.
If each of our 300 members contributes $1.05 it will equal $315.
200 contributing $1.57 each it will equal $315.
100 contributing $3.15 each it will equal $315.
50 contributing $6.30 each it will equal $315.
25 contributing $12.60 each it will equal $315.
Give as the Lord has prospered you and say nothing about the hard times except to him. This is no tax but a free will offering to the needy. The matter is between you and Jesus.
Place your offering in a sealed envelope (you need not sign unless you wish) and place in the box at the door as you pass into the church Sabbath October 20th or 27th and oblige.
Your Fellow Servants in Christ.
