Description	Hudson Iron Works building, Hudson, New York, with railroad tracks and South Bay in the foreground. The village of Athens is visible across the Hudson River. This photograph is a modern copy print; the original image appears to have been a glass plate negative. Written on front: "Hudson Iron Works, Athen Rt. Top" Written on back: "Hudson Iron Works" The Hudson Iron Company was formed in 1849, and the ironworks began operating in 1851. It was located on fill in the South Bay and was near the tracks of the Hudson and Berkshire railroad (visible in foreground of the image) and the Hudson River Railroad. The company closed in the late 19th century.
