Description	"Skating on Asher's Pond. In the background is the Beekman Livingston Mill (built about 1715). and the Dutch Reformed Church (built 1733)" (From: "The Rhinebeck Post Office Murals" 1940) Olin Dows Considered the recollections of Rhinebeck residents when choosing the subject matter for his mural panels. In a letter to Dows dated 5/24/39 Edwin van Etten reminisces: “As I think of Rhinebeck there are always certain things which stand out in my mind. One of them is Asher's Pond, where they always made ice in winter and where we skated, building a huge bonfire on winter nights there on the island. This might be an interesting scene...
