I was much pleased when I was informed you had provided yourself with a port-folio in order to collect and preserve such usefull [sic] publications as frequently appear in our publish prints; which while they remain in their fugative [sic] papers, are diffused and lost tho [sic] very worthy of preservation, they will, in part at least, hold up a history of the Spirit and Temper of the present times and aford [sic] you amusement and Instruction at some future day - I now send you two of these publications which I have Extracted from my papers, and should be glad if you can find them, to place among your collection, a very vain and arogant [sic] letter from the Democratic Society, with an answer to that letter publishd in several of our papers and attributed to Noah Webster; It is wrote, I think, with great Justice and ability, and in strong and elegant language
