Looking down Main Street in Suffer, through the intersection for Lafayette Avenue. There is a horse standing in the middle of the intersection at the horse trough. Suffern Real Estate is on the right-hand corner.
This photograph shows a horse at a watering trough. The horse is attached to a cart with four large wheels. A man with a hat and pipe sits on the cart. Another man stands next to the cart with his arm resting on the cart. Both men have mustaches....
A fountain or watering trough has two lions' heads as spigots. The back says, "Reflecting pool. Snedens waterfall," suggesting that this was part of the sculpture collection at the base of Tonetti Falls just south of Sneden's Landing.
Along Piermont Avenue in Piermont there is an old spring, which was a water source for residents and a beacon for travelers. Someone wrote a poem and erected it above the opening. This old postcard shows a trough to the right of the spring.
