Bill documenting the sale of a 24 year old slave named Ben dated March 28, 1785. He was sold from the Van Bunchoten family, from Dutchess County, to Philip Bevier, from Ulster County. Ben was sold for 100 pounds.
This pre-revolutionary house on Lake Road was built by Harmanus Perry, who died in 1828. In 1854 it was owned by J. H. Perry and Emmett in the 1920's. The Perry family burial ground was across the way.
