Browse the Second Mohonk Conference on the Negro Question held at Lake Mohonk, Ulster County, New York, June 3, 4, 5, 1891 - The proceedings of a conference held at Lake Mohonk in June, 1891, the second annual conference of two. Attendees included statesmen, leaders in education and leaders in the ministry. The focus of the conference was on the current situation of the African-American population and the means through which improvement in that situation might be achieved. Much of the discussion revolved around the need for education to be provided for all people, with particular emphasis on training as teachers and ministers.

Education in a Valley Fair - This exhibit explores the growth of education in the New Paltz area from the early Huguenot days through the twentieth century. It is a collaborate effort of the Haviland-Heidgerd Historical Collection at Elting Library, Historic Huguenot Street and the Sojourner Truth Library at the State University of New York at New Paltz, and is based on materials from their respective collections.
