About this collection

Together with the Beacon Historical Society this varied collection of photographs, documents and ephemera portray the history of the Howland Public Library, beginning with its inception in 1872 as the Howland Circulating Library up to the present. An emphasis is placed on the day-to-day operations of a small Hudson River Valley city library and the private lives of people involved.
