American Ambulance Field Service in France / (Service aux Armées de l'Ambulance Americaine) / General Headquarters: 21, RUE RAYNOUARD, PARIS (XVI) / A. Piatt Andrew Inspector General [...] Stephen Galatti Assistant Inspector [...] Edmund L. Gros Chief Physician / THE FIELD SERVICE has had sections of American volunteers on the Yser, on the Aisne, on the / Somme, in Champagne, at Verdun, in Lorraine and in reconquered Alsace and is (September, 1916) / sending a section of thirty-five cars to Salonika to serve with the French Army of the Orient. Sections / of the Field Service have served with all of the French Armies in practically all of their great campaigns. An authoritative account of their work can be found in the book "Friends of France," / written by members of the Service and published by Houghton Mifflin Co. (Two dollars net at all bookstores). / Moving Pictures of the work, under the title "Our American Boys in the European War," / will be shown throughout the United States in the autumn of 1916 by the Triangle Film Corporation, / 1457 Broadway, New York City. / FINANCIAL NEEDS OF THE FIELD SERVICE / A FORD AMBULANCE, chassis, body and equipment (including freight charges, insurance, etc.) / costs approximately $1,000. Its running expenses amount to approximately $50 per month. A Ford Ambu- / lance can be bought and maintained for one year for $1,600. The names of the donors of such cars are / inscribed on a plate attached to the car and the volunteers who drive the cars endeavour to communicate from / time to time to the donors information as to the experiences through which the car is passing. / A Field Section consists of 20 ambulances actually in the field, 2 ambulances in reserve, a staff car, / a Ford repair car equipped with spare parts, a larger repair car (equipped with work bench, forge, vises and / [page] 1
