Tragico tecti syrmate Orlando di Lasso
(153z-1594)
Tragical vestments cover us, who from heaven come to the human
race, bringing a requiem, singing for those whose lives Destiny ended,
mournfully chanting, honoring dead heroes. These freezing regions
once did abound in fruit, everywhere growing, weighing the branches.
The earth was blooming, white with fair lily flowersi and gently
sighing, o'er fields the West Wind blew.
