I received your letter this morning, just as we were sitting down to dinner, and was very glad to get it. You must make believe that blot is a kiss, I put my finger down in a hurry and made it. You were better than your promise, for you wrote me nearly seven pages. You were real good and I will try to be as good. I was very sorry you and Carrie could not come down to the boat with us, but I think it is about as well you did not, for if you had caught cold I would have felt very sorry, and it was very wet and muddy.
