Description	Inventory form for building located on West Lake Rd. recording the following information: Tuxedo Park Club (owner at time of inventory). A one and a half story hipped rectangular structure, symmetrical plan with central and side loggias. In the rear, a large gabled box, containing courts. The court Tennis Room and the Racquets Court are made of Bickley cement, both are supported by stone and brick arches in the basement. Original glass roof w/ canvasses which were raised & lowered replaced by mercury vapor bulbs. Balls are handsewn. There is a full gallery for spectators. Plunge (...) is being renovated. Squash tennis court is not used. There are dressing rooms for men and women. Built 1890-1900 by Lloyd Warren and Charles D. Wetmore (1867-1941). Lloyd Warren, the architect, was born in N.Y.C. and trained in Paris. He designed Grand Central, other terminals, several hotels including the Belmont, the Ambassador, the Ritz-Carleton, and the Biltmore. In the Park, Lindley Hall (current owner Bozzuffi) (...) tennis, the game of kings came from France initially, it appeared in England before (...), then in the 19th century, in Boston. "A number of rich men recognized the many advantages of Court tennis...as a game independent of season or weather, as a game bringing healthy exercise and pleasure, yet requiring active thought. (Not power but placement) So (...) subscribed over $80,000 and appointed Governors to manage the fund for them." The court "is made of Bickley cement, and in the very best proportions...the light and ventilation are perfection...the Tuxedo Courts will probably serve as a model for all future (...) built in America..." Unfortunately, the formula for the cement which resembles (...) (no seams) has been lost. Membership is limited to Club members.
