Tuxedo
Park
Association
. On the
1903
map
, the
estate
is
called
Trayaddo
and a
large
stone
mansion
is
shown
along
with
one
frame
stable
. The
estate
, in
1926
was
sold
to
Alfred
Lee
Loomis
,
physicist
,
who
soon
converted
it
into the
Loomis
Laboratories
where
he
conducted
studies
of
physical
and
biological
effects
of
high
frequency
sound
waves
,
Aberdeen
chronography
,
precision
measurements
of
time
and
electrical
potentials
of the
brain
. He was a
pioneer
in the
design
of the
Loran
Navigation
System
. The
laboratories
were
operative
from
1928-1941
.
Mr
.
Loomis
also
commissioned
William
E
.
Lescaze
,
Swiss
architect
to
build
a
glass
laboratory
on an
adjoining
property
in
1936
.

Mr
.
Loomis
himself
maintained
his
residence
on
Clubhouse
Road
, in a
house
which
had been
designed
by
Wilson
Eyre
for
Harleston
Deacon
.
