. This
rambling
late
Victorian
house
was
built
two
years
before
its
owner
Frederic
O
.
Spedden
survived
the
tragic
Titanic
disaster
of
1912
.
Spedden
, an
excellent
yachtsman
, was
credited
with
saving
the
lives
of his
wife
, his
son
and
two
employees
.
Several
steamer
trunk
keys
marked
'
Titanic
' were
found
by the
present
owners
.
Mr
.
Spedden's
son
was
killed
in an
automobile
accident
three
years
after
his
rescue
from the
Titanic
.
Because
of his
interest
in
music
, the
Speddens
added
a
music
room
as a
memorial
to
other
son
. The
room
contains
an
enormous
pipe
organ
.
