Description	Inventory form for building located on Tower Hill Rd; at intersection Clubhouse Rd. recording the following information: Eugene Y. Cleary (owner at time of inventory). A two and a half story shingled cottage, F.-shaped, gable juxtaposing gable. Side extension for porch has stone foundation. One-bay gabled entrance porch. Wooden carving in gables made to resemble half-timbering. One interior, one end, both brick chimneys. Lattice work in rear. Front bay with 2/2 windows. Built in 1887. In 1887, the Tuxedo Park Association sold this property to Joseph M. Varnum. Mr. Varnum's great grandfather, the Honorable Joseph B. Varnum served as United States Senator from 1811-17 and acted as President pro "tempore" and acting Vice President from 6 December 1813 to 17 April, 1814. The Tuxedo Varnum, Joseph M., was a member of the Tuxedo Metropolitan and Union Clubs. This structure is on the 1892 map and appears in the 1903 Atlas as a large frame house with one frame stable and frame gardener's cottage belonging to Fred K. Gallatin. This 'cottage' has very much the quality of the early shingled houses designed by Bruce Price for the Park. Architect unknown.
