Raphael Tuck began in London, England in 1866. It wasn't until 1871, when Raphael Tuck was joined with his three sons that the first Christmas greeting card was created. In 1893 Raphael Tuck & Sons was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria. They printed and produced everything from books, postcards, greeting cards, die cut cards, fringed silk cards, scrapbooks, puzzles, and more. Major Samuel K. Cowan, M.A., was an Irish author during the 1800s. Cowan is best known, for a piece called ""Becalmed"" the poem was printed in the Belfast News-Letter.
