Dear Father & Mother I again
set down to inform you I am
Well & hope you are enjoying the
same blessing I recd yours of
the 5th & was glad to hear you
Were all Well We visited the City
of Washington & the White House
We Marched in the reception
Room waited some time when
our Colonel entered with the
President and introduced us
as the men that had left their
Homes in the Mountains of
Sullivan & Ulster & the Bank
of the Hudson to fight for
their Country & Flag[,] then the
President said - - - Gentlemen
this looks as if I was going to
make a speech but that is getting
out of my line of Business but
However I should like to shake
