This indenture made this fifteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two between Joshua Howel of the precinct of Goshen County of Orange and State of New York Farmer of the one part and John Springsted of the precinct of Goshen County and State aforesaid farmer of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Joshua Howel for and in consideration of the sum of eighty five pounds sixteen shillings current money of the states afoursaid to him in hand paid by the said John Springsted the Recept whereof is hereby acknowledged We the said Joshua Howel hath granted bargained and sold aliened released enfeeofed and confirmed and by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely grant bargain and sell alien release enfeeof and confirm unto the said John Sprinstead and to his heirs and assigns forever; All that certain piece or parcel of land situate in the precinct of County and state aforesaid and is part of lots number 5 and 6 in the East division of the Township of Goshen and is bounded as follows Beginning at a stake then running along Carpenter line as the compass now stands north forty seven degrees and forty five minutes west sixteen chains and ninty one links to a stake then south forty two degrees and fifteen minutes west nine chain and eighty one links to a stake in the line of Baley then south forty seven degrees and forty five minutes east sixteen chain and ninety one links to the lands of Samuel Baleys Bogg Meadow there being a stake then north forty two degrees and fifteen minutes east nine chain and eighty one links to the place of beginning containing sixteen and half acres of land including the High Ways. Being a part of fifty acres which in parts lots number 5 and 6 together with all and singular the ways water courses easments profits commodities advantages hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said piece or parcel of land belonging or in any win appertaining and also all the estate right title interest claim reversion and demand whatsoever of him the said Joshua Howel of in and to the same piece or parcel of land and promises above mentioned with every the appurtenances thereof To have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land and [words unclear due to crease] with the appurtenances unto the said John Springsted his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said John Springsted his heirs and assigns forever and the said Joshua Howel for himself and his heirs the said piece or parcel of lands and premises above mentioned and every part thereof against him and his heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever lawfully claiming the same or any part thereof to the said John Springsted his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by them presents in witness whereof the said Joshua Howel hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
