This Indenture, MADE the twenty fifth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty BETWEEN the Trustees of the First Presbyterian Church at Chester, in the Town of Goshen, County of Orange and State of New-York, of the first part, and Nathaniel H. Gale of the town of Goshen in the county aforesaid, of the second part, WITNESSETH, That the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five dollars and ~~~ cents, to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part at the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, HAVE GRANTED, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever - All that certain SEAT, numbered thirty Six in the new Meeting-House, recently built at Chester, aforesaid, together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging, with all the right, both at law and in equity, which the said parties of the first part have of, in, and to the same : TO HAVE AND TO HOLD unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns for their own proper use, benefit and behoof forever. Upon this express condition, however, that ~~~ the said party of the second party, his heirs or assigns, do pay or cause to be paid unto the said parties of the first part, or their successors in office, the yearly salary that now is, or may hereafter be, assessed on said Seat-to be paid semi-annually every year, for the purpose of supporting such Minister of the Gospel as may be duly settled as Pastor in said Church, agreeably to the rules and regulations of the Churches under the care of the General Assembly of Presbyterians in the United States. And the said party of the second part, for himself, his heirs and assigns, doth covenant and agree to and with the said patties of the first part that, in case ---- the said party of the second part, his heirs or assigns, shall feel disposed not to pay the above mentioned salary agreeably to the foregoing condition, and shall give notice to said Trustees, or their successors in office, that such salary will not, by them, be paid any longer than till the expiration of the then present year, it shall be lawful for said Trustees, or their successors in office; to Rent said Seat to any person or persons for the succeeding year, and from year to year, till said party of the second part, or his heirs or assigns, shall give notice that he or they will re-occupy said Seat, and pay the salary thereon, agreeably to the foregoing condition, after the expiration of the term for which it shall have been rented.
In Testimony whereof, the said parties of the first part have caused the Seal of their Corporation to be affixed to these Presents the
day and year first above written.
